About Trowels

Trowels do the final finishing work on every concrete pour — and there are more types than most homeowners realize. We stock pool trowels (rounded ends, no witness marks on stamped or decorative work), finishing trowels (square ends, hard-trowel finishes for floors and slabs), and margin trowels (the all-purpose patching tool every crew should have). Blue-steel, carbon-steel, and stainless-steel blade options. Brands include KRAFT (with ProForm handles), Marshalltown (the GTA standard), and OX. All sizes in stock at our Brampton, Mississauga, and Pickering yards.

Frequently asked questions

Pool trowel vs finishing trowel — what's the difference?
Pool trowels have rounded blade ends so they don't leave witness marks on decorative or stamped concrete. Finishing trowels have square ends and give a tighter, polished surface — ideal for interior slabs and warehouse floors. Pros usually carry both.
Is a blue-steel trowel worth the extra money over carbon-steel?
Yes — blue steel is heat-tempered, holds an edge longer, and is the contractor default. Carbon steel works for the occasional pour but rusts quickly if you don't clean it. Stainless steel is worth the upgrade if you do colored or decorative work because chemicals from color hardeners and pigments will pit a regular steel blade.
What size finishing trowel do I need?
14" × 4" is the most versatile and what most contractors keep on the truck. 18" × 5" for large floor work. 11" × 4" for tight spots and corners. Buy at least two so you can keep one clean for the polish pass.
