Edgers and groovers finish the perimeter and control joints of every concrete slab — the small details that separate a contractor's work from a homeowner's. We stock edgers with 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" radius corners plus groovers and step edgers from KRAFT and Marshalltown. Stainless steel and blue steel options. Available at Brampton, Mississauga, and Pickering yards.
Frequently asked questions
What radius edger should I use?
1/4" radius for tight, modern edges. 3/8" or 1/2" radius for softer, more durable corners that resist chipping under foot traffic and freeze-thaw. The bigger the radius, the longer the edge lasts.
What's the difference between an edger and a groover?
Edgers round the slab perimeter to prevent chipping. Groovers cut the control joints you see across the slab (every 4–5 feet on sidewalks). Both are pulled across freshly floated concrete during finishing.
How deep should control joints be?
Roughly 1/4 of the slab thickness. For a 4" slab, cut 1" deep. Joints must be cut deep enough to direct cracks, or the slab cracks randomly instead.
